Benefits

 

NPP Fellows are not employees of any organization; therefore, typical employer benefits do not apply. NPP Fellows are stipend recipients and receive health insurance through the NPP contractor. Visit NPP Benefits for more information. Relocation assistance provided to eligible fellows only.

JPL Postdocs are temporary full-time employees of JPL. JPL provides comprehensive benefits for eligible postdocs and their family that includes medical, dental, life insurance, long-term disability insurance, paid time off, and more. Postdocs are also able to enroll in the Voluntary Tax Deferred Account (retirement savings) program.  Relocation assistance provided to eligible postdocs only.

Visiting Postdocs are fully supported by their institution or postdoctoral fellowship grant and that through these resources they are self-sufficient during the visiting appointment without salary or stipend support from JPL or Caltech. Caltech/JPL will maintain workers’ compensation for visiting postdocs while participating in the program.  No other insurance or benefits will be provided.  Visiting postdocs are expected to provide their own health insurance.  Foreign national visiting postdocs are required to provide proof of health and accident insurance for a minimum of $100,000 per incident; $50,000 for medical evacuation; $25,000 for repatriation and a deductible not to exceed $500 per accident or illness, upon arrival to the United States.

NHFP Fellows are fully supported by the fellowship program and are responsible for purchasing their own health insurance. NHFP Fellows should consult their program guidelines to understand what their budget can cover. Eligible health insurance payments will be reimbursed.

JIFRESSE Postdocs are UCLA employees; therefore, should consult their human resources department for benefits information.
